Pray about all of it

Us homeschooling moms, we need willing hearts, correct expectations, the ability to get out of our boxes of what school “should look like” and prayer…lots and lots of prayer.

Psalm 145:18 – “The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.” <——I love this verse because it is proof that I’m not alone.

Matthew 7:11 – “If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!” <——I love this verse because I KNOW how much I love my kids and want to give them everything. It’s crazy how much God loves us MORE than we love our kids. So He wants to give us soooo much!!!!

Romans 8:26 – “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.”  <——-I love this verse because even when I’m weak and don’t know how to pray, I’m assured God has already sent me help.

The Lord absolutely loves a mom who can cry out to her Jesus during the midst of a day with her children. Choosing to raise our voices to the Lord…instead of raising them to our kids…is something that God is jealous for.

I remember the place and time when I knew I was going to homeschool my kids. I heard almost audibly from God that I was going to do it. Yes…I absolutely believe God still speaks all the time, every single day, in so many ways.

You don’t know what curriculum to use? Or if you should even use any? Pray for guidance. You’re worried that your child is 10 years old and can’t read well? Pray that the Lord would give you the peace you need about it and the steadiness to just wait. Your husband isn’t on board with homeschooling? Pray that you would continue to be a light to him and that God would soften his heart.

Pray. About all of it…and include your children when you do it. Show them how to worship, how to keep a prayer journal, how to talk to God. And when you stumble, which will happen, show them how God forgives, loves and holds no record against us, no matter how big or small the stumble is. I honestly believe that some days if the only thing you can get done is worship and prayer with your children…then you’ve had a successful homeschool day.
